In the #Phaphund area of #Auraiya district, #UttarPradesh, a young man named Upendra, who had married for love, was subjected to extreme cruelty by several people, including his wife Kalpana’s maternal relatives. They forced him to wear a garland made of shoes and slippers and paraded him through the village lanes. Kalpana had gone to her maternal home and called Upendra there, where her maternal uncle’s son physically assaulted him. After the video of the incident went viral, the police filed an FIR.
