Four years ago today, World Health Organization (WHO) and communities around the world made a historic commitment to eliminate #CervicalCancer — and since then, 17th November is marked as Cervical Cancer Elimination Day of Action. I thank all the health workers who are playing a critical role in this global effort. I also thank our partners, including the governments of Australia and Spain, the Gates Foundation, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, PEPFAR, Unitaid, the WorldBank and The GFF. Only with strong leadership and sustained investment can we achieve our shared goal of equitable access for communities most in need.

Every year, over 600,000 women hear the words: “You have #CervicalCancer.” More than 300,000 die; most in low- and middle-income countries. Mothers. Aunts. Sisters. Daughters. Friends. Lives cut short. Families changed forever. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Cervical cancer could be the first cancer ever eliminated. We have what we need: * Vaccines to prevent it * Tools to screen and detect it early * Treatment that saves lives Now we must step up action. Let’s make elimination a reality. Let's #EndCervicalCancer!
