#Syria: since #SDF has been expelled from the E. #DeirEzzor countryside, there's a widespread popular participation to restore the bridges that were bombed years ago by the US-led Coalition. For years, residents had to rely on costly and dangerous barges to cross the river, as SDF prevented the bridges from being repaired. See: In Asharaa (a key bridge on #Euphrates), residents mobilized their own trucks, loaded with materials such as stones and gravel, to fill the 3 breaches in the bridge. #Syria: Asharaa bridge in #DeirEzzor province has officially reopened to traffic after the destroyed sections were filled. Asharaa Bridge was bombed 3 times by the US-led Coalition in 2016 and 2017. The repair effort saw strong local participation and began just 2 days after #SDF was expelled from the province. The current fix is temporary however, as the bridge's pillars will ultimately need to be rebuilt in concrete to withstand erosion from the river's current.
