The Shumaytiyah water station, N. of Deir Ezzor, is on the verge of shutting down despite emergency measures, incl. the erection of earth berms & relocation of exposed equipment. Around 25% of all water stations using water from the river are already out of service. A single bridge in Deir Ezzor countryside is now fully operational and 2 makeshift bridges were destroyed. The Emergencies and Health ministers cut short trips abroad to oversee the emergency response in the 2 provinces.

The Dam will now maintain a normal discharge rate of ~700 m³/s for electricity generation. Water levels in the Euphrates river are expected to return to normal within 72 hours. The move will bring an end to the largest water release in decades, which caused widespread flooding in areas along the Euphrates in Raqqa & Deir Ezzor countryside.
