Tensions rose past days in #Hasakah province amid widespread dissatisfaction among Arab tribes over the current situation. Their complaints come from a mix of issues, particularly the delayed return of displaced families, the absence of full State sovereignty in the province - amid the slow and difficult integration process with #SDF - & the violations committed by SDF-affiliated fighters. The situation is further exacerbated by the lack of transparency from local authorities, with key decisions made but not officially disclosed. Negotiations with a Government delegation, to prevent further tribal mobilization, were initiated.

#Syria: first displaced Kurdish families began returning today to Ras Al-Ain (N. #Hasakah). They were displaced during the Turkish-led offensive in 2019. Over 400 families made the journey. Each family received a financial compensation of $1,000, in what appears to be a first amid the return of displaced people.

#Syria: last night, a gas pipeline exploded in Shaddadi countryside (S. #Hasakah). It triggered a power outage in the town - repair work is ongoing. The pipeline is linked to Jabsa fields whose production resumed after its takeover from #SDF in January. Authorities have yet to comment but the blast echoes #ISIS sabotage attacks on gas pipelines in 2020–21, incl. vs the Arab Gas Pipeline in Damascus countryside.

#Syria: as the wheat harvest goes on, silos in #Hasakah - main province producing grain - already received over 300,000 tons of wheat - out of 860,000 tons collected nationwide. Hasakah is expected to reach the one million ton threshold. The country could achieve self-sufficiency in wheat production this year - or come very close - for the first time in a long time.

#Syria: the situation is escalating in #Hasakah-city, where a pro-SDF/Kurdish mob stormed a Security building, vandalized it and placed a Kurdish flag atop the building. Security forces didn't intervene. This is yet another cycle of unrest, triggered by the attacks on returning Kurdish residents in Ras Al-Ain and followed by retaliatory actions in other areas.

#Syria: the final US convoy left Qasrak base in #Hasakah province this morning. The plumes of smoke seen in the video are from materials burned prior to their departure. This base was the largest remaining US military facility in the country. The 60th Division is now taking control of the base.

#Syria: after suspending the withdrawal from its main base at Qasrak (NE. #Hasakah), the US sent reinforcements from Iraq for the first time today. The convoy included C-RAM systems - short-range air defense designed to counter rockets & drones - intended to protect US troops amid the ongoing war with Iran. Since the beginning of the month, US bases in Syria were targeted at least twice by suicide drones.

Unrest continues tonight in Kurdish areas, after a number of returning residents were attacked in Ras Al-Ain. Like in March, local Security forces don't intervene - incl. when their HQ (such as in #Hasakah) or the district building is attacked (2nd video) - allowing the crowd to lash out at symbols of the State.
