“Starmer should have dealt with the two thousand, he could have just said the words: “that’s not true.” Union boss Mick Lynch tells #Newsnight he doesn’t think Sir Keir Starmer fully rebutted the Tory allegation that Labour would put up taxes by £2,000. #leadersdebate

The figures quoted by Simon Harris last night #LeadersDebate are misleading and selective. Simon Harris TD The number “35” only refers to children waiting for spinal fusions (end 2019), ignoring those waiting for other critical spinal #scoliosis surgeries. At our first meeting with him in 2016, we explained the different categories: •Spinal fusion: children waiting for definitive fusion surgery. •Spinal other: children waiting for growth rod implantation, lengthenings, or other essential procedures, often more urgent as they support growth in young children, including lung and heart development. Despite this, Harris consistently excludes these children from waiting lists and data. These are the youngest and most vulnerable patients, requiring repeated surgeries throughout their lives. Excluding them is unacceptable. When spinal “other” operations are included, end-of-2019 data shows 52 children waiting more than three months, as confirmed in a Parliamentary Question reply.
