"You cannot be too fit to have a cardiac problem" - Guido Claessen This #MSMRL episode is one of the most important ones Iñaki de la Parra and I have done. In it, we get right to the heart of the matter when it comes to endurance exercise and heart health 🫀 - How much is good? - How much is problematic? - What cardiac problems are athletes likely to face? - And just how bad are they? - Are certain training intensities better - or safer - than others? Let's not sugarcoat it - these are life or death questions! So, we sat down with two of the best in the world at understanding athletes’ hearts - Andre La Gerche (Andre La Gerche) and Guido Claessen - to talk about the good, the bad, and the misunderstood. Essential listening for anyone with an endurance habit and a currently beating heart! Full pod below 👇

“The number of hours I can accumulate is directly proportional to how good I’m going to get.” - Alistair Brownlee A real privilege for Iñaki de la Parra & me to sit down with 2x Olympic Champion Alistair Brownlee for the latest edition of #MSMRL In this one we cover: • Alistair’s (very) long-term development - from riding his bike to swim practice along the Yorkshire tow-paths to becoming a 2x Olympic Champion • How easy he realized he needed to go in order to absorb the training volume (Spoiler: Eazzzzzzy!) • The incredible power of simple routines repeated over very long periods of time! So many raw gems 💎 in this conversation. Definitely one to bookmark and revisit 🔖 Link to full pod below 👇

A couple of months back, I wrote a post: “Strength Training for Endurance Athletes -You’re Doing It Wrong.” It sparked… a bit of discussion. And argument. So for this #MSMRL, Iñaki de la Parra & I brought in some serious backup: Erin Carson - strength coach to Ironman champions, Olympic medalists, and some of the most durable endurance athletes on the planet. Her message? Most “strength training” for endurance athletes just looks like all their other training - adding fatigue & furthering imbalances. And that’s exactly what it shouldn’t be! If you care about actually getting functionally stronger, more durable, and faster (not just more tired!), this one’s worth your time.

A real masterclass in this week’s #MSMRL - where Iñaki de la Parra & I sit down with world-class coach Joel Filliol on the biggest mistake in endurance training right now: “Zone 2 has started to creep up.” “What used to be easy training… isn’t really easy anymore.” “The error with Zone 2? It accumulates.” Most athletes aren’t overtraining. They’re just doing their “easy” training too hard! This one is worth a few listens! Full podcast 👇

Before you start replicating your favorite elite's nutritional strategy, ask yourself the question... "Do you really have the money to buy that Lambo?" Sure, you can drive it without the money. But that's called debt! In #MSMRL 12, Iñaki de la Parra & I sat down with Aitor Viribay to talk about what really drives performance: Energy. He might be known as the "120g/hr" guy, but we discovered he's really the... "get to really understand yourself as an energetic being" guy We hope it leaves you just as fascinated as it left us 🙏 Full podcast below 👇
