This is actually infuriating. #MeghanMarkle casually mentioning that #PrincePhilip was in the hospital, then humble brags about just picking up the phone to call the Queen to “check in”. First and foremost, I don’t believe for one second she had a direct line to Her Majesty. And if she DID, bragging about it in an Oprah interview is the epitome of classless clownishness. The way Markle pauses for a reaction after she announces it. “I picked up the phone and called the Queen…..” “just to check in….” “I called…” waiting for Oprah’s impressed response. She says it’s sooo nice not to have to worry if something’s appropriate but that’s her mistake. Queen Elizabeth was the Queen, Head of State FIRST, Aitch’s grandmother second, and it would have served the Duchess very well to have remembered that. Harry complains about there being a level of control in the family over how they appear publicly-that’s Markle in his ear because they are the British Royal Family-that control over their image is what’s helped keep them relevant and a sense of mystery the last thousand years.
