United Nations training programme on Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) Control #IndianArmy will be hosting the inaugural Asia-Pacific United Nations Fellowship Training Programme on Small Arms and Light Weapons #SALW Control at the Military College of Materials Management, #MCMM, Jabalpur, from 16 February to 06 March 2026. Being organised by the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs through its Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Asia and the Pacific, the programme brings together delegates from 15 countries to strengthen implementation of global frameworks against illicit arms trade. The illicit trade in small arms is a transnational and systemic threat that requires a coordinated, global and sustained response. Today, INTERPOL briefed the UN Security Council during the Open Debate on #SALW, convened by Sierra Leone. We highlighted how illicit arms trafficking is intertwined with conflict, sustains organized crime and is increasingly enabled by online technologies.
