On this beautiful #ScorseseSunday, I’m counting the days until Leonardo DiCaprio & Martin Scorsese give us the first trailer for their next film What Happens At Night. 20 years after the two won the Oscar for Best Picture together for The Departed, by the grace of God, they’re still making movies together. It’s so easy to fall back down the Scorsese-rabbit hole. Especially at a time when Matt Damon is the center of attention with The Odyssey.

Martin Scorsese’s next film- What Happens At Night- is said to have a heavy influence from Alfred Hitchcock. On this #ScorseseSunday, I’m thinking about how much Marty loves Cinema & still studies legends like Hitchcock even at this age. I’m ready for more Marty. I’m ready now.

It’s both #ScorseseSunday and #ChristopherNolanWeek, so it feels necessary to mention that Christopher Nolan recently shared that Martin Scorsese's 1988 film The Last Temptation of Christ was a major creative inspiration behind Nolan’a depiction of Odysseus in The Odyssey. Nolan’s pulled from so many creative mammoths in making his upcoming release. I expected the world.

On this beautiful #ScorseseSunday, I wonder what Marty would think of the recent tectonic changes in Hollywood. On the one hand, Marty’s worked with Netflix in the past so as to get his movie made. On the other hand, no one believes in the theater experience more than Scorsese.

It’s a beautiful #ScorseseSunday & a reminder that Raging Bull should be mentioned as Marty’s career high point, as with De Niro. Goodfellas & Taxi Driver are frequently at the top of most people’s lists, but Raging Bull is some of the best filmmaking I’ve ever seen from Marty.

Taxi Driver turns exactly 50 years old today & as luck would have it, on a #ScorseseSunday. This film literally changed everything & was so far ahead of its time in how it explored themes of alienation & radicalization. Not to mention one of the best on-screen performances ever.
