#Singapore-flagged Container Ship ‘Nawata Bhum’ Collides with Riverbank Near Diamond Harbour Marine Tanks Kolkata/Diamond Harbour: A Singapore-flagged container ship, MV Nawata Bhum, has reportedly collided with the riverbank in the Hooghly River near Diamond Harbour in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. According to available reports, the vessel was heading towards Kolkata Port and lost control while attempting to take a turn near Nurpur Ferry Ghat, following which the ship collided with the riverbank. The collision reportedly caused damage to a portion of the riverbank. As per preliminary information, there have been no reports of any casualties. However, the exact reason behind the vessel losing control remains unclear, and the incident is under investigation. Some local reports have also mentioned strong tidal currents and turbulent conditions in the Hooghly at the time of the incident, but this has not been officially established as the cause of the accident. Nawata Bhum is a container vessel with IMO No. 9365685. The vessel operates under the Singapore flag and is approximately 148 metres long, with a gross tonnage of around 9,917 and a container capacity of approximately 1,108 TEU.
