“I have lost property worth crores in #Trishuli Bazaar. My sister-in-law and my nephew were swept away and lost their lives. #Nepal Police recovered one body, but it was so badly decomposed that the police told me they had to perform the last rites themselves. I have nothing left. Even this shirt I am wearing was borrowed from someone.” These are the heartbreaking words of Ashok Chaurasia, a shopkeeper from #Baliya, #UP, India, who has been running his clothing business in Nepal’s Trishuli Bazaar for the past 20 years. This video from #Trishuli Bazaar, dated August 26, shows the flood waves passing right beside Viral’s house before crashing directly into Raju Gupta’s five storey home. Viral’s house was slightly shielded by the mountain and a diversion, reducing the direct impact. Raju Gupta house, however, took the full force of the flood and has been completely destroyed, while Viral’s structurally stronger house is still standing. India TV #Nepal ( Video: Raju Gupta)
