Christian extremists out there protesting Buddhist monks on a #walkforpeace saying they’re “walking to hell 🫠 Like… be serious. They’re literally walking for peace, not trying to convert anyone like some religions do. Buddhism doesn’t even push conversion😑 anyone can practice without switching religions. Have you followed #WalkForPeace? Twenty-four monks are walking 2,300 miles from Texas to Washington DC. Not for attention. Not for spectacle. Just peace, compassion, and loving-kindness. As if a world exhausted by noise, outrage, and anger suddenly recognised a quieter language. In a polarised world, this walk feels like a pause. In a manipulative world, it feels kind. In a world addicted to spectacle, the monks chose slowness. But the real hero of this story doesn’t wear robes. Her name is Aloka, meaning enlightenment. An Indian stray dog from Kolkata. When the monks walked across India years ago, Aloka followed them. No leash. No training. She stayed because she felt safe. She walked because she belonged. She never asked where the journey was going. She just knew it was good. Aloka reminds us of something we keep forgetting: peace is not an idea, kindness is not a campaign.
