umpires did not allow the game to start, Tony Vitello did. Once the game begins, it's on the umpires to delay the game.

Umpires take over that responsibility when lineup cards are submitted. When lightning strikes multiple times during Doyle’s warmup that’s on the umpiring crew.

Umpires do not make the decision to start the game. Tennessee officials make the decision. Per the commissioners handbook.

I am sorry, but this is an incredibly foolish tweet. This is entirely on Tony V. The umpires were instructed to start a game and did. Tony could have prevented all of this.
