Back in the Coach Lou Holtz days the Irish were the epitome of old school smash mouth power football. Coach Holtz’s bread and butter play to make everything go was the option. To be able to run the option offense you need a quarterback that can run like a deer, read the defensive tackle, defensive end and outside linebacker to either give the football to the tailback, fullback or pull it and take off and throw the football to keep the defense honest. This man could do those 3 traits to perfection. He was the definition of a Option quarterback. During his storied career at ‘The House that Rockne Built’ he had 173 completions for 2,961 yards and 11 of those passes visited the end zone. 🚨 SOMETHING VERY STRANGE IS HAPPENING Yesterday, the Fed hiked rates by 25 bps for the first time in 3 years. Today, stocks are rallying like nothing happened. Something doesn't add up: 16 of 18 Fed policymakers expect at least ONE MORE HIKE this year. Just 9 months ago, markets were pricing in 3 RATE CUTS for 2026. Oil is above $100. Diesel prices just hit RECORD HIGHS. And the Fed now expects 3.7% inflation in 2026. But the market still hasn’t broken. WHY? Because one thing is keeping it alive: THE AI BOOM. And this is where almost everyone is getting it wrong. AI is not just holding the market up. IT IS GIVING THE FED ROOM TO KEEP HIKING. This past weekend I won Smashkatoon 100, the largest Melee bracket in Saskatchewan history and a celebration of a wonderful community. I have never wanted to win a tournament so badly in my entire life... now it's over. Smashkatoon was my last large bracket I was planning on entering. Life moves fast and my passion for the game and community can't seem to keep up. I've met some amazing people in my travels, and have had some fantastic times. I still love the game, but my serious competition days have long felt over, Smashkatoon was my one last ride. Shoutouts to Mono, Schmeez, and Egg$ for coming out. That meant the world to me. Thank you to everyone for an amazing 10 years of Smash, 12 year old me couldn't imagine making it this deep into the weeds of it. Thank you to my brother Dunc for getting me into it in the first place and being my guardian at events. Thank you to Paul for driving me to events and smashfests.
