good list. rule that saved me: self-host anything that can be down for an hour (n8n, analytics, background jobs) and pay for whatever sits in the login or payment path. $20/mo managed auth is cheaper than one night debugging your own session bug.

actually, yes. it's just that there are times when it's not that important and you can save some money (at the beginning, for example)

Solid choice. Infisical looks super useful for keeping secrets safe.

@unicodef1wn infisical is a game changer. can't count how many times i've worried about .env leaks. the audit logs alone make it worth using.

client paying 1800/year for a reporting tool, swapped it for a script on a 5/mo server that emails before anyone logs in. infisical is the non-optional one tho, had a key leak through a public fork once, bad afternoon

a key leak is really scary. did you lose a lot because of it?

this list could delete half a founders monthly subscriptions fr

self hosting saves money, but maintenance becomes the hidden bill

thank you, i just needed something like "trigger dev"

infisical alone is worth knowing. one leaked .env can cost more than the whole SaaS bill

The real cost savings come from smaller teams using those tools on actual projects, not just adding them to a GitHub repo.

save $20k on SaaS, spend the weekend maintaining it yourself

Trigger devs background jobs sound really useful.

the amount of SaaS this can replace is honestly wild, especially for small teams

half of them i already have in saved

Thanks for this cool detail

too good to bookmark, i'll check them right now!!

new repos new bookmark from me

cd rates charity

This post lifted my mood, thank you Saved it

.env files. the real leak was never the repo, it's future-me pasting a key into a slack message to debug faster. tools don't leak secrets. humans in a hurry do.

Thanks for putting everything together in one place

$20K a year saved, insane list

decent list

nice, i saved

starred!

saved this gem thanks
