Sometimes I prefer to hedge via an opposing short put . Hedge some upside risk and still have room for mean reversion collecting premium on both .

Options is one of those things in this life that I have consistently failed to grasp. I guess it comes from my natural handicap or lack of aptitude for math. But then I digress .... Why on earth should I understand hedging in the options markets? I trade spot FX and commodities.
