Kraftwerk play their first concert to a confused audience (1970). This is one of the earliest existing concert videos documenting the birth of electronic music.

Lene Lovich - Lucky Number (1978)

Also very motivated, this song reminds me ..., but NDW Original: Trio - Da, da, da - ZDF-Hitparade - 1982

I LOVED this version.

I wouldn’t call this a classic 😳

While I am at it.

Very Bertolt Brecht.

Talk about taking the joy out of a song. Dreadful cover of Barrett Strong's classic.

I love her style. This is good too

The Flying Lizards with their one-hit wonder - a Beatles cover. Here's how the original sounded:

This one always pops up in my mind from my time in Germany

Can't beat teThe Flying Lizards!

The Normal - Warm Leatherette (1978)

She became a supply teacher at my school.

I remember hearing this in 1980 and could not stop thinking about it for weeks

Brilliant. It sends up the whole pantomime of commercial, generic pop (or more often: “pap” of the elevator kind). It’s also straight-talking (if not singing), no BS: the opposite of schmalzy, unreal romanticism typified by the dreadful wailing of sadly departed Whitney Houston.

My mum hates this version 😔 Me playing the shit out of it Christmas 1979

I remember back in the day when she was interviewed Q - Why don't you sing A - Because I can't

Her ability to keep a straight face is epic! You had to understand the time, the milleu. Classic.

Dr. Demento show. Every week. I love this video. Weird Tv was pretty great as well.

Enter Yello...

The talent is just incredible, especially my man on the drums! 😂

The Flying Lizards. I still have the 45 after all these years. Love this.

This sucked in 1979 and still does today. Nothing redeeming or interesting about it.

Every girl from California ever.

Is that Matt Hancock on drums?

No , he was always on the fiddle!

Post-punk is pretty great. Needs a screeching sax tho.

Original version is better

I remember this. I thought it was brilliant then and I still think it’s brilliant now. Original was by Berry Gordy, I think.

Her phrasing is so good

I have the 7inch single. It carries the song on on the b side with instrumental noises, bangs and squeaks over the riff

Avec des "pianos préparés" dans le style de John Cage !

The rot in music had already set in by the late 70s. The greatest era for music was 1965- 1975.
