2/ These DVNs create a powerful and configurable Security Stack for applications called “X of Y of N.” For example, a "1 of 9 of 15" configuration requires consensus from the following DVNs for a message to be verified: * 9 from a selected pool of 15 DVNs, and...

LayerZero V2 overhauls how developers secure their cross-chain messages. With Decentralized Verifier Networks (DVNs), both V1 and V2 application owners can configure a custom Security Stack based on their specific needs. Dive into DVNs 🧵

1/ In V2, messages are verified through DVNs selected by application owners. Any entity – be it a bridge, oracle, attestation service, zkLightClient, enterprise company, DAO, etc. – can permissionlessly create a DVN to verify messages for applications built on LayerZero.

3/ An application’s selection of DVNs is called its Security Stack. For use cases like low cost NFT transfers, an application might set a 1/1/1 Security Stack. For use cases like DAO governance, a 5/20/25 Security Stack might be configured.

4/ With the V2 design, applications have complete control over security. Applications may modify, combine, or remove DVNs however they deem necessary. This allows applications to improve security as new verification methods enter the market or reconfigure DVNs if risks arise.

5/ At launch, DVNs will be run by a wide variety of entities: @MIM_Spell @animocabrands @BlockdaemonHQ @delegatedotxyz @gitcoin @GoogleCloudTech @NethermindEth @P2Pvalidator @PolyhedraZK @StableLab @switchboardxyz @tapioca_dao & @Portalcoin by SuperDuper

6/ In addition to the DVNs above, DVN Adapters will be available. These Adapters allow applications to permissionlessly verify messages through third-party networks, native bridges, and middlechains. At launch, both Axelar and CCIP will be live as DVN Adapters.
