China is the second largest market in the world, so of course businesses want access to it. The problem is they don’t play by the same rules. For years, companies have dealt with intellectual property theft, uneven legal systems, and an environment where American businesses don’t get the same protections or leverage Chinese companies receive. That’s the real dilemma, how do you do business with a market that many now see not as a partner, but as a strategic competitor? That’s why tariffs and tougher policies have become part of the conversation. This isn’t about the Chinese people it’s about the actions and ambitions of the Chinese government.

In 2018, they invited Tesla to build a wholly-owned factory in Shanghai. No joint venture required. Chinese officials called it the "catfish effect" - Tesla would force domestic companies to compete or die. The impact was brutal. When Tesla's Model 3 launched in 2020, it quickly became China's best-selling EV. BYD's total vehicle sales actually fell 7.7% that year to just 427,000 units. By competing with the world's best, BYD was forced to address what they were missing: Chinese EVs had great battery tech and software, but the cars weren't appealing. So BYD learned design. Sales exploded. Today BYD sells over 4 million vehicles annually - 10x their 2020 numbers, and more than Tesla globally. America should do the same thing. In the long run, the only way to win high-tech manufacturing is to actually compete against the very best in the world. We should encourage BYD and other leading Chinese companies to build factories in America in exchange for the access to the U.S market. CBS Sunday Morning went to a London auto showroom and interviewed British car owners, traditional dealers and industry experts about the rise of Chinese EVs in Europe. What they found quietly destroys a lot of American mythology. British car owner Justin Watson is replacing his Lexus with a BYD. He described the ride as “like sitting on a throne” and said its technology, comfort and handling surpassed anything he had driven before. His conclusion was blunt: The era of “cheap Chinese cars don’t last” is over. A London dealer with more than 50 years in the business, long associated with Volkswagen, said he never imagined he would one day sell Chinese cars. Then he saw the quality, the technology and the sales growth. He changed his mind. Ben Nelmes of New Automotive explained why. Chinese EV makers now hold major advantages across batteries, supply chains and manufacturing integration. BYD started with batteries and built upward, controlling far more of its own production chain and allowing it to make cars at least 25% cheaper than Western competitors. And the technology is no longer “cheap imitation.” Chinese EVs are producing the things Western social media keeps going viral over: 360-degree tank turns. Emergency floating capability. Ultra-long range. Charging from 10% to 70% in minutes. The old stereotype of “Made in China = cheap and inferior” is collapsing in real time. Then comes the American part. The Biden administration imposed a 100% tariff on Chinese EVs. Trump kept the wall in place. In practical terms, Chinese EVs are shut out of the U.S. market. JD Vance on Greenland: Greenland matters to American national security because our entire missile defense relies on security in the Arctic. If a foreign country launched a missile at the United States of America, we would need control over the Arctic in order to shoot that missile down. Our entire missile defense system depends on that Arctic security. The Chinese and the Russians and even the Danes who control Greenland want to control that facility and that land mass. That would make us weaker. That would make our country more endangered. It would mean that if the President were negotiating with a foreign leader, he would have less leverage because they could realistically threaten the sovereignty and territorial safety of the United States of America. We’re not going to let that happen.

BREAKING: Carney, gave a very important hint at the new China relationship & what he negotiated. Everyone missed it. It’s significantly bigger than the 49,000 Chinese-made EVs that will be allowed into the country. He is going to allow China to invest in factories in Ontario. And it’s going to be done through a partnership. I believe that partnership will be through Hyundai. It makes the most strategic sense: Hyundai will then license technology from BYD instead of BYD taking the risk of opening a factory in Canada that could be shut down with a change in government. This will then provide the same opportunity for China to access the full North American market and bypass the US tariffs. That’s the strategy behind it. And the US will see right through it: They will not allow any of those vehicles in their country.

Why is Canada on the verge of being annex? Canada has allowed itself to become a national security threat to America, or rather is "harboring" that national security threat. Last June, CCP operatives attempted to smuggle a pathogen into America that could have potentially wiped out 80% of US agricultural land. Not to mention the CCP biolabs they've found through America housing Ebola, Covid and other deadly pathogens. Only a fool would think these same labs aren't throughout rural Canada all along the border. The next time they try, they'll be coming through Canada's wide open Western border. Canada's CSIS (Canadian Security Intelligence Service) had warned about the CCP corrupting Canadian politicians and this fell on deaf ears. MP Micheal Ma, who was born in China crossed the isle to become a Liberal, helping Carney secure his majority government, a government no doubt sympathetic to China, and imposing policies that would benefit China including turning a blind eye to American security concerns, for example allowing CCP EV maker BYD to import Chinese EVs into the Canadian market place. Ferrari’s first EV costs $640,000. At that price, it is not competing with Chinese EVs. It is competing with nostalgia. The problem is that the EV era does not worship engine noise, legacy badges, or old European prestige the same way.
