24-Hour Fire Comparisons | August 12, 2025 (Newfoundland & Labrador) All three major fires currently burning on the Island have shown growth in the past 24 hours, as noted by the Premier of NL earlier today. #nlwx Using NASA FIRMS imagery, we can see where this growth has been... concentrated. On the Paddy’s Pond fire, the most significant expansion has been on the north and south sides—especially to the north, closest to Paradise and Conception Bay South. This aligns with the evacuation order issued for the Three Island Pond area earlier today. The Kingston Fire shows growth along its northern flank, with more substantial spread toward the northeast into Ochre Pit Cove compared to yesterday. My heart goes out to all those who are waiting to find out if their homes, cabins, or whatever else they hold is still standing.
