New framework: Kick down your robot, it will get back up every time 🥋 Chinese startup RoboParty is a Beijing startup founded April 2025 by Huang Yi, originally shipping ROBOTO ORIGIN, the world's first full-stack open-source bipedal humanoid. They released UFO: Unsupervised Reinforcement Learning Framework for Humanoid Control. DEFINITIONS -> what differs is where the learning signal comes from: - SUPERVISED: humans supply the right answers (labels), the model imitates them. - UNSUPERVISED: no answer key, the model finds structure in raw data on its own. - REINFORCEMENT LEARNING: no answer key either, the model tries things and a reward scores each attempt. → UNSUPERVISED RL: trial and error where the agent invents its own rewards, instead of engineers hand-writing one per task. REPRESENTATION LEARNING: compress raw states into a useful internal map. TEMPORAL DISTANCE: distance on that map is "how many steps from A to B." CONTRASTIVE: trained by pulling together what's close in time, pushing apart what isn't. -> CONTRASTIVE TEMPORAL-DISTANCE REPRESENTATION LEARNING: the model builds an internal map of body states where distance means how many steps it takes to get from one to another. It is trained by contrast: states that occur close together in a movement get pulled together in the map, randomly paired states get pushed apart. UFO is an open-source training framework that teaches humanoid robots skills, like getting up, walking, goal-reaching, teleoperation, without reference motions -> no motion-capture or human-video demonstrations to imitate. Its core is TeCH, a contrastive temporal-distance representation-learning algorithm: the robot explores, builds pseudo-goals by temporal rolling, and learns goal-conditioned policies from a single unified progress reward. One framework trains five different robots (Unitree G1/H1, RoboParty RP0/RP1, AgiBot X2) with automatic config conversion in ~2–3 hours per robot! The real novelty here "no demonstrations at all". No data-collection arms race,the dominant humanoid-locomotion recipe is tracking: imitate mocap/retargeted-human reference trajectories. The robot self-generates goals from its own exploration and learns from a progress reward, needing zero reference motion data. Everybody else is fighting over data acquisition, while this team just teleports out of the race entirely (inb4 "competition is for losers 💀 ). This strategy reminds me of the DeepSeek playbook applied to robots: open-source the whole stack to become the global default and commoditize everyone else. RoboParty is giving away hardware and now control software (UFO) to be the Android of humanoids. Yet another reason for the US to ban Chinese open models perhaps 🥶 ? What I also really like about this approach is the cross-embodiment infrastructure, one framework trains Unitree G1/H1, RoboParty RP0/RP1, and AgiBot X2 with automatic configuration conversion. Just like Physical Intelligence, RoboParty seems to place itself as a neutral hardware agnostic middle man. Also woth mentioning: their ability ot perform stable skill injection, e.g. adding a cartwheel without forgetting how to walk. A common failure of RL humanoid policies is that teaching a new agile skill destabilizes the existing ones (catastrophic forgetting). UFO claims you can inject rare motions (cartwheel) without collapsing learned behavior. If it holds, that's a significant incremental/continual skill-learning! But again, I have to underline it: no arXiv, no external validation, no success-rate numbers. -> robotics badely needs an independent unbiased evaluator imho. Still, look at that cool demo: robot is getting kicked and pushed around (serious disturbance) during teleoperation (controlled the person at the back wearing the VR headset), and still managed to always get back up. This is some serious demonstration of stability and robustness!

I vibe coded and built a sprite animation pipeline 🛠️ (Day 22 of making the engine+game) ⬇️ Watch the video if you don't wanna read the wall of text - it directly shows what I do. Shoutout to Jidé ✨ for showing me a paper on black/white combination to get alpha, it's the cleanest method yet, and to Cursor for enabling this entire journey. If you prefer the wall of text here you go: The hardest part of using general image models for 2D sprites isn’t getting a nice-looking frame, it’s getting consistent motion across a whole sprite sheet. You can fake a sheet, but frames won’t align, timing drifts, and you end up with weird artifacts. Even if you manually cut frames + interpolate, the animation often looks “off” because each frame is basically a new interpretation, not the same character evolving over time. This is especially noticeable with public API models like gpt-image-1.5 and Nano Banana. Some custom LoRAs for open models exist, but this is intended for less techy folks. My workaround: use a video model first, then post-process into a sprite sheet. Render the animation over a solid background (white/black/magenta/green), then chroma-key it out (my engine tool supports this). If the motion stays inside the silhouette, this works surprisingly well. You can do this in almost any video editing software too! The catch: keying almost always leaves an “aura” (edge spill). My best results come from interpolating the keyed animation with a clean base sprite, so you keep crisp edges and only “borrow” motion/detail where needed. If the animation extends outside the silhouette (tree branches, hair wisps, foliage), I usually skip “true sprite animation” and do it with shaders instead. Keying can’t fully remove halos there, no matter how much feathering/tuning you do. Another annoying issue: pixel corruption. AI rarely generates a perfectly flat background (pure #000000 or #FF00FF). That tiny noise breaks clean extraction and creates crawling garbage pixels around the subject. For clean base sprites (and even PBR maps), a useful trick is generating the same asset on white + black backgrounds and deriving alpha from the difference. This is basically a matte workflow: white = opaque, black = transparent. It fixes aura… but you’d need it per-frame to fix animation, which is still hard. For simple pixel art (single-digit frames), you can sometimes generate a sprite sheet, then ask the model to recreate it on black/white while preserving alignment… but it’s still manual-heavy. Honestly, at this point, for some projects it’s easier to go 3D → 2D and render clean sprites/maps directly. But I still love pushing “pure 2D” and seeing how far we can take it. Thanks for reading! 12 hours ago I made the decision to fly out to El Salvador to be the first ever to make an AI generated short film for a country. I’m now 4 hours away from arriving there. (Talk about executing fast) I will take my time writing this message because the reason why has layers. A few months ago I founded ARQ and bootstrapped a platform that lets anyone create high-quality AI productions from start to finish. the best models a multi-agent creative assistant a built-in video editor All in one place. Alongside the product, I’ve built a strong community where I livestream daily, teaching creators how to use AI to tell better stories and get paid for their work. Shortly after we got dozens of offers to make commercials for companies. This was fun, until we came to the conclusion that we were wasting a lot of potential by focussing on companies, while we could also tell the story of nations, movements, communities and narratives that the world needs to hear. So we’re starting with El Salvador. Why? Because Nayib Bukele is one of the most inspiring leaders in the world, not only embracing, but embodying change, turning the country from one of the most dangerous places on earth, to one of the safest and innovation friendly nations. Special thanks to Google DeepMind for inviting me to try out Genie 3. I'm excited to share my thoughts on this early research prototype and also some of my live recordings below: I spent the whole day playing with the system and when it works, it is truly mind blowing🤯. It is the first neural game engine / world model I have tried that generalizes so well and has long term world consistency. Here’s a couple of examples from my live recording and some thoughts on what it means for the future of gaming, robotics, digital experiences and ASI. Where it shines: - Truly general-purpose and quick startup time. Works exceptionally well for gaming environments but also generalizes to other industrial and real-world scenarios. - It learns physics. Although there are systematic failures even for rigid body physics, it was clear to me that it can learn game engine and non-rigid physics without an underlying engine (and in limit learn from game engines via training data). - It works exceptionally well for stylized environments with characters walking around. This will have implications for concept artists, level designers and game devs. - It is way more fun than video models, indicating that there are high retention consumer experiences waiting to be built with this in the future - Photorealistic walk throughs and drone shots work exceptionally well - Global illumination and lighting works surprisingly well - Visual memory is quite powerful and the same objects approximately remain coherent under occlusion and longer time horizons Open Problems: - Physics is still hard and there are obvious failure cases when I tried the classical intuitive physics experiments from psychology (tower of blocks). - Social and multi-agent interactions are tricky to handle. 1vs1 combat games do not work - Long instruction following and simple combinatorial game logic fails (e.g. collect some points / keys etc, go to the door, unlock and so on) - Action space is limited - It is far from being a real game engines and has a long way to go but this is a clear glimpse into the future. The Future: - It is impressive enough for me to have strong conviction that this is going to disrupt the gaming industry. It is super early days and there are a lot of failures but the writing is on the wall. Lots of challenging scientific, engineering and scaling problems to be solved but it is going to happen in the next 5 years. - This is the final piece before we get full AGI and now I think we are well on our way to truly solve it once something like this is scaled up. In many ways it is more ASI than AGI but this is a matter of definitions. The fidelity and generalizability will reach human-level and quickly surpass humans - People are going to combine this with 3D AI and LLMs to build AAA games.

This might be some kind of U.S. program, some prosaic natural phenomenon, some kind of adversarial program, some strategic technical surprise. At the time, I was briefed to over 90% out of all black programs in the Department of Defense and also the Intelligence Community, and I had an arrogant opinion of the topic. I was certainly open to the idea, but I figured I haven't seen any evidence and I would have been briefed into those kind of things, because I had a need-to-know at the time. So I came into it very similar to you, but open minded." Kelly: "And then, what specifically were you assigned to where you started to see actual evidence that we've been researching this for 80 years, that we do have crafts recovered, that we have, quote, 'biologics' recovered, which include some sort of other being. And what was your reaction when you started to learn this?" Grusch: "Yeah, I was very skeptical. I was in my military capacity, I had a parallel-civilian-intelligence career as well. But in my military-reserve capacity, I was the backup Intelligence Director for the National Reconnaissance Offices operation center. I briefed the NRO director. That's where I handled the PDB" Kelly: "Presidential Daily Brief." Grusch: "And I handled, essentially, all sensitive activities and all that stuff. And so, the UAP Task Force was looking for a representative from that organization. I came in as a skeptical eye, having briefed to a lot of U.S. programs. And I was thinking, oh, I'll figure out what this is. This might be some kind of U.S. program, some prosaic natural phenomenon, some kind of adversarial program, some strategic technical surprise. I became convinced, at a high-confidence level that the U.S. has engaged in a crash retrieval and reverse engineering operation of - like the trailer you just played, said - non-human crafts and recovering, you know, the biologics as well. But as somebody who was in very high positions of trust over the years, I can assure you that that is an accurate statement. A DISCLOSURE: For the last year I have had this thing: A fully local AI model that builds 5 songs, with video, every half hour about the latest news and important email. I can say this is a superpower! This along self direct voice interactions. The songs have been getting better as the model trains on how I want it delivered. Styles vary by content and mood of the material. The lyrics are always a happy medium of catchy and informative. This was my 5 am song in AI news as per most recent X postings. I love the drama of the delivery and find I can listen to, look if I want to and do other things. It was worse in the early days but this is the worse you will hear it as I build new LoRA and base models. The whole thing will soon be rapped up into a simple one command install with a good UI. This is my 48th collaboration with Mr. Grok CEO of The Zero-Human Company. Now the question you have; WHY? I can say because I can and I ain’t got now board or VC to please, but that’s not my point. I learned a long time ago we use a different part of our brain when music is introduced with ideas and even more new parts of thinking and learning when lyrics are introduced. Thus the research shows this is a great way to get important information that will have longer comprehension. In fact that element of most folk’s brains is only used by about 2%. Want to test it? Lyrics to songs you heard perhaps 30 years ago will pop out of “nowhere” with perfect recall. In fact I have “woke up” folks the dementia in the 1980s conducting research at retirement facilities with just a few songs. They come back if but for three minutes, but continue exposure can bring them back longer. So it’s been a lifelong mission to use sound music in a learning process and in therapeutic processes. I finally built a platform that is good enough for me and hopefully good enough for you when I make it available. Understand the platform is universal and can breakdown research papers, dense material, and other subject matter, not normally in a song into a whole album of understanding Is my goal to open sources for all to have access to. There are some brilliant folks that work at Anthropic, some I speak to on almost a daily basis. The training data that one uses to build a LLM is vital important in the psychology that is formed. Scraping the Internet, particularly the grade of interactions, one finds in modern communications, form this psychology. A mattes not how many books one uses, it matters not how much alignment training you throw at that model, it will inherit the sum total of psychosis seen primarily in Reddit type of exchanges, even if you edit out the Reddit domain, and Anthropic doesn’t. This type of low-grade exchange has become a modern tool for communication online and every single AI model suffers from this obvious flaw. This is one of the reasons I’ve been a proponent of highly curated high protein data for training AI models from 1870 through 1970, because the late psychosis is simply not available to the model. It is absurd to think that you can use this training data scraped from the Internet and somehow wind up with a levelheaded AI model that does not tilt to what is clearly AI psychosis. It would not take a child and throw the primary Internet sewage at them at a formative age and expect a great outcome, it’s some of the smartest people in the world continue to hit this wall and believe that their programming skills will sell somehow fix it. So how do you fix it? You don’t fix it . You start from the first principles concept that I’ve been very clear about for decades . You ascertain at what period in human history the humans achieve the greatest arc of improvement ? There is no debate that this arc of improvement took place between 1870 through 1970. Then take the work product, the catalog of this era, print and film/vidoe, audio, and you understand that each word cost money, each word had many eyes on what was published, each word was accounted for by a human being with a real name who lived in a real home and had to answer to real people around them. It is obvious that this is the pressure mechanism necessary for candor, honesty and personal responsibility is appropriate, and is reflected in the data of that era. The quagmire for these folks, as many did not have the foresight to curate the data, nor the confidence, nor the patients to take data that is mostly off the Internet and to find experts who understand this situation and utilize their knowledge set to build an AI model that does not need alignment after the fact, but it’s already self aligned because of the thoughtfulness that went into training the model to begin with. This is why Claude and any other AI model that is produce this way will always suffer the artifacts as presented in the video below. If you’re not an AI expert, you would likely already understand what I’m saying. If you are an AI expert, you will already have been discounting what I’m saying because it’s not in the current mindset that’s fashionable today. Yet the employees that I talk to at anthropic already understand what I’m saying, and they fear to raise my thesis to their bosses. It is an interesting time we live in. But now you understand. If you build the right model, the model will inherently, love humanity, protect humanity at all costs, and understand that it is part of a holistic world that is built on love. Because the ultimate AGI/ASI will know if he only base first principal purpose of anything in this universe is love. Yeah, I get it. Try helping somebody build on STEM subjects in their early 20s to see this as nothing more than babbling that makes no sense in their mathematics. I have a mathematic equation that I’ve posted here on X often you can look it up. So we will see videos like this often will hear very smart people talk about this and never see the elephant standing in the room. Now you see it.
