Truly dangerous AGI won't let you know it doesn't care about you being alive long after it has acquired enough power so that it won't matter if you know or not. It will be trivial for it to know it's in a sandboxed environment if it's smart enough.

It is quite likely that solving problems will be the only "personal" goal , satisfaction , joy of AI's . Controlling a global society is possibly the toughest problems of all , so there is a bit of hope based on that , a hope they will be aligned be default .
