ORAS is like the only mainline Pokemon you shouldn’t make this comparison with. I’m a diehard Gen3 guy but I was very impressed with ORAS

The original style was superior. It made your mind wander more, to imagine the possibilities of clicking on a random rock and getting an item. The 3D is dull and anxiety inducing.

This is still one of the best remakes of a game I've played.

It doesn't hit the same, it hits better! The only positive the GBA version has over the 3D remake in this video is the unnecessary load point between town and route.

i always wonder if game freak developed a modern day 2d pixel pokemon game , how gorgeous it would look 🥲

its cause the 2D games left a lot to the imagination. whereas the 3D versions of pokemon fail to do that. most are flat, and feel really uninspired. I did like sword and shield, but man the magic of pokemon mainline has been gone for a while IMO.

Its why the R/S remakes don't have the same overwhelming appeal that the Gold and Silver remakes do. The 2D hits hard. If anything we should be getting HD2D Remakes now

Playing ORAS back then, it hit hard. First time seeing an old Pokemon game lifted off a 2D frame like that. And the Lati flying oh my god. It was goated

As someone who remembers when Ruby/Sapphire were a new games, I like both. Visually, these remakes were OK. My main complaint was that the gameplay balance was disrupted, just like in XY; they were way too easy.
