3D particle simulation has some charm in it. Though, I paused it and pushing forward the 2D one.

This one took me almost 2 years to master, soon every Threejs dev will master it with a simple Import: Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics Simulation, 2D and 3D, optimized with Spatial Hashing and Compute Shaders. Optimized for WebGPURenderer with complete TSL compatibility!!

For my 3d simulation I needed to implement new rendering. To replace "sphere par particle" with marching cubes. I never implemented that kind of stuff, so I decided to first try a simplified 2d version, the marching squares. It worked, very fast rendering now.

Here it is! The 3D Animation I talked about Exactly how I thought it would be great 3D with 2D effects!! #GenshinImpact #Nodkrai

More geometry level techniques! This time to create cool particle trails. In my early Houdini days I've struggled with particle trails, specifically tapering the beginning of the trails. This is because I was trying to do it directly within the simulation. However doing it after the simulation is much easier and faster. From this tapering setup, I've started to layer even more deformations like twisting, noise, and finally I've decided that in some cases it's better to just do it all at the geometry level :) #sidefxhoudini #houdini #houdinifx

Initially, I had Claude make this animation in 2D. It wrote the piano score and drew every frame in JavaScript. I gave this 2D version as reference to another Claude. Because the whole film was code, Claude was able to use its exact choreography and make the 3D one in Blender.

Marvel Rivals has done it again. The switch from 3D to 2D animation is insane 😭

2D and 3D are now in sync. Why we didn't do it from the beginning is a mystery :)

I’m making super paper Mario, except it has an adorable duck and takes the 2D 3D switch to a whole new level!

The Australian 3D series "Shaun Tan's Tales from Outer Suburbia" (by Flying Bark studio) has been quietly available for free on BYUtv for months (in the U.S.), and it also includes some 2D segments. >> I made this short video as a friendly reminder.

I wouldn't call it bad, for one it has better animation quality the the old cartoon, there is some classic voice actors in there, but I will admit it could have used some tweaks in my view, MOSTLY music, and some designs.

Claude Fable 5 has impressive spatial reasoning capabilities that are immediately relevant for engineering and design: In this example I gave Claude Fable 5 a single photo of a hierarchical mesh torus (image generated using a text-to-image model); and in one shot, no iteration, it built a full interactive 3D simulation: ~1,400 nodes & 4,400 fibers, realistic mass–spring physics you can grab, compress, twist… plus strain-based sonification so you can 'hear' the structure vibrate. It inferred the complete 3D topology from a partial 2D view. ⤵️

Combining 2D and 3D in After Effects. In Foldspace, not every surface needs to be bent. Keep one flat for 2D artwork, and let the others exist in 3D space. This allows you to combine 2D and 3D objects in a single animation with no masks or tricks needed.
