3D printing without flat layers. What do you think? 🤖 Massive Dimension × ABB Robotics are taking 3D printing into a new dimension with 6-axis robotic motion. Curves, angles and complex geometries beyond conventional layer-by-layer printing. Is this the future of additive manufacturing? 🏢 Developers: Massive Dimension × ABB...

The real gain is not the curves, it is strength. Flat layers leave the weakest bond between layers, straight along Z. Tilt the nozzle and layers can follow the shape of the part, so the weak plane stops lining up with the load. Stair-stepping on slopes shrinks too.

Tool orientation adds freedom, while collision checking and material bonding get more complex.

Such smooth movement.

Great demo. Removing the flat-layer constraint changes what's possible for large-format printing. I've been watching Massive Dimension and ABB closely, and I want to see how this performs at industrial scale. Any specs on material consistency yet?
