It was Lou’s first year managing the team and the Cubs started the season with a disappointing 22-30 record. The Cubs were trailing 4-3 after blowing a three-run lead and it looked like they would lose their sixth straight game. With no outs, Angel Pagan, the tying run, was at second base. Braves pitcher Rafael Soriano threw a ball in the dirt, Pagan ran to third, but catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia picked the ball on a hop and gunned it to third and Pagan was called out. Piniella then stormed out of the dugout to argue the call to argue with third base umpire Mark Wegner. Lou kicked dirt on Wegner’s shoes, screamed in his face, and kicked his hat multiple times as he was ejected. The Cubs lost the game 5-3 and Lou was suspended for four games.

Seydou Traore has been a pleasant surprise since the pads came on at Dolphins camp. After I did my film work on him I was adamant on Phinside The NFL that he wasn't just another jabroni international pick. You saw the growth last year at Mississippi State where he went from not being a very competent blocker and being subbed off to by the end of the season, he's getting downfield, in space and blowing up second/third level defenders in the run game. He just needs time to properly and grow and develop but the tools are for real. #PhinsUp

🚨WEIRD PLAY ALERT🚨 First, weird doesn’t do this justice. This is from Wednesday night’s game between AAA Albuquerque Isotopes at Reno Reno Aces … with one out B9, ABQ leads 4-3, but Reno has bases loaded. Connor Kaiser hits a gapper for a double and seemingly the win … BUT … R3 (Aramis Garcia) scores to make it 4-4 R2: (Christian Pache) runs into Ildemaro Vargas who ran on the field with a cell phone to record the celebration and accidentally knocked Pache over, which is unintentional interference. R1: (Andy Weber) stopped before third, and Kaiser rounded second and started to head to the celebration… BUT… Pache was called out (2-unassisted) so it was 4-4 … BUT … Topes CF Sam Hilliard thought the game was over on the hit so he flipped the ball over the fence to a kid … BUT … Since it was only 4-4, and coach/player interference is not a dead ball, flipping the ball into the stands is an error on Hilliard, and the penalty is the base you are going to at the time of the throw, plus another, meaning Weber, who stopped short of third, was awarded third, and then home to win the game. Final score … 5-4 Reno. Holy crap. Now, they will get the scoring fixed tomorrow (let’s face it this is a new one) but they will remove on of the RBIs from Kaiser, and add an error to Hilliard. The first runner is unearned because he reached on an error, and since Pache’s INT should have been the third out, Weber is also unearned. Absolutely the dumbest, silliest, best baseball ending to a game in a long, long time. Jimmy O'Brien and Close Call Sports & Umpire Ejection Fantasy League will have a field day. Here is the clip with the ABQ radio call over it because it conveys the craziness way better than the Reno call.

One of the biggest positives for me with Rosenior's appointment is to do with the different solutions he looks for from an out of possession perspective. This is especially crucial for Chelsea who've mostly defended the middle third specifically in a mix of a man-man and zonal approach, which, as I've pointed out so many times, can leave the team open. As h and Patrick explain below, and as mentioned in my Rosenior analysis thread, this can often look like a 5-2-3 defensive structure which then transitions into a man-man. I think this is a better way to go because Chelsea can now choose to be more passive, at times, while still having the option to selectively press aggressively. I'm specifically referring to the middle third again. Shifting to this, I think, can help improve Chelsea defensively. Adding more supplementary material below.

This team was down by 7 runs in the last inning. They made a comeback and scored the winning run by this young man stealing home. 👏 This is why as a catcher, you never throw the ball back to the pitcher from your knees with runners on base. You always stand and take a look at the runner, ESPECIALLY with a runner on third and in this scenario, the game winning run. That’s poor coaching imho. It’s the little fundamentals that are coached in practice that add up to whether a team is prepared or not for the games. Where was the coach telling his catcher to keep an eye on the runner at third?

the fundamental issue with Jaylen Brown's scoring process is that it's purely contingent on whether the ball goes in and it really does nothing to bend defenses in any meaningful way; the ball did go in a few times in the 4th to make it look like JB was dragging the Celtics back into the game but it was about as good as it got for essentially the entirety of the game, Sixers were happy to drop super deep and guard JB 1-on-1, there was no need to gap, the wing defenders could just stick to the shooters and if the ball goes in, well, you just kind of move on because it happens from time to time. For this process to work out in your favour JB would probably need to be closer to 70% ts, 55% just ain't it that's basically creating two parallel offensive processes, it's detrimental for Boston in most situations, except for maybe when JB gets switched onto Maxey
