Many of you said this scene would crash a laptop. So I put it to the test. 😊🚀

Tested on a base MacBook Air M2 (8 CPU, 8 GPU, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD). 43M polygons in Blender 4.3.1… and yes, it runs!

Of course, this was just a test. I wouldn’t recommend working on a machine that lacks the power for this kind of task. If you’re aiming for professional work, a powerful workstation is a must.

Polygon counts ain’t that matter on Cycles because of how the path tracer works, complex shader and lightning impact performance the most. Still dope for a MacBook with only 8gb of unified memory though.

True, but an excessive polygon count can still max out VRAM, making the render impossible… Thanks!

I‘ve used a base m2 for a while on small to medium scenes while stuck with a older gpu on desktop that did not support cycles. And did render runs over night on low power mode, keeping the temp on nice 60deg. You don’t need high end hardware 😅

M series chips are no joke. M3 MBP is super fast.

I agree, M series chips are powerful, but a good Nvidia GPU still makes a big difference in comfort.

polygon is processed with gpu right?

Yes, VRAM determines the polygon limit, while textures can be managed by the RAM.
