GATCHALIAN ON POWER SUBSIDIES: ‘KAILANGAN NATIN TULUNGAN ANG PINAKAMAHIHIRAP’ WATCH: Amid complaints over the lifeline rate, or discounts on electricity bills for low-income households being shouldered by consumers, Senator Win Gatchalian said the subsidy is not new and accounts for just 1 centavo out of the 56 centavos in government-mandated charges. “Hindi malaki yung tulong natin sa pinakamahihirap — para lang makatawid sila at mabuhay nang may dangal,” he says. Gatchalian attributed the recent bill shock to an increase in generation charges. He has invited Meralco and the Energy Regulatory Commission to a hearing tomorrow. | Eimor Santos
