In the practice of Alchemical Meditation, we first learn to separate our mind into the observer and the observed. The “observed” constitutes all the various moods, emotions, reactions, and instinctive impulses that suppress the free expression of our authentic-self (noetic soul / human soul). Second, we learn to isolate and understand these suppressive forces of our psyche which are nothing more than artifacts passed down through human evolution. Some of these artifacts are ego defense mechanisms, others are autonomic programs of the mind for survival and reproduction. Third, we learn to tune in with our higher emotional faculty to the divine spirit that radiates love from the original divine monad found at the center of all things. Fourth, once we can tune into the elements of the psyche that we wish to transform to liberate our authentic-self, we then bring these elements, one-by-one, into contrast with the divine spirit (love of God). When the two are held in differential contrast, the element is transformed and a new aspect of our authentic-self is liberated and moves inward to become part of the observer. The “observer” is the noetic soul (human soul). Through consistent daily alchemical meditation, over the course of life, we consolidate and individuate our conscious mind. Ultimately, this all culminates in the reunified monad—philosophers’ stone. This is the Great Work. To go deeper into the practice of alchemical meditation, I recommend the three books of The Alchemy Series. All three teach the practice in great detail and you can read them in any order.
