50 Years Ago Tonight August 11, 1976 The #Jets host the #Giants in a preseason game before 35,000 at the recently-remodeled and reopened Yankee Stadium. The Jets were entrenched in a bitter, years-long lease dispute with the Mets and New York City over the use of Shea Stadium. During their 20 seasons at Shea, they never played a preseason game there. This game was played at Yankee Stadium as New Jersey's Giants Stadium was still two months away from its grand opening. The game had originally been scheduled for Monday August 9, but was moved to Wednesday the 11th due to the effects of Hurricane Belle. The Jets would host Oakland two days later, again in the Bronx, followed by Washington two weeks after — the final NFL games played at Yankee Stadium.

What an unforgettable night at Angel Stadium! God showed up in a spectacular way, as He always does, pouring out His Spirit in a tangible, powerful manner. We experienced epic worship moments throughout the evening, especially when 45,000 voices sang "The Blessing" with Kari Jobe Carnes and Cody Carnes at full volume—it was truly a taste of Heaven. The heart of the Harvest Crusade, for the past 35 years, has been the proclamation of the Gospel. When the invitation to follow Christ was given, so many people came forward that the Fire Marshals had to stop them, with others backed up in the aisles—a first for Angel Stadium! This reminds us of a similar moment years ago at Dodger Stadium. Please pray for all those who invited Christ into their lives tonight. May they be "seed planted on good ground" and grow strong in their faith.

So Catching has evolved right? In this video Mitch Garver is doing his pregame routine I guess. IDK! What I do know is that Mitch has thrown out (19%) of base stealers in his career. I played with Ivan Pudge Rodriguez IMO the best defensive catcher in MLB history! The discussion is usually between him and Johnny Bench. Pudge threw out (45.7%) and Bench (43.5%) Maybe Mitch would be better off watching YouTube videos of those guys to see how the best did it. I hear it’s easy to block from the #1Knee🗑️ setup but I wonder if it’s easier to stand up and make a throw from a knee? BREAKING: The AMERICAN EAGLE roller coaster will RACE ONCE AGAIN at Six Flags Great America for the first time in nearly a decade. The park announced that EAGLE will race during the park’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, which is happening from June 20-August 9. The classic wooden roller coaster opened in 1981 with a red train and blue train racing side by side. It is the tallest, fastest, and longest racing wooden roller coaster in the world. Six Flags Great America opened to the public 50 years ago today - May 29, 1976. In honor of the big day, the park is handing out party hats and some treats. There will be a fireworks show at 9:30pm.

40 Years Ago Tonight July 22, 1986 #Mets-#Reds 14-Inning War at Riverfront One of the wildest baseball games I've seen The clip shows just a fraction of the insanity. Cincinnati player-manager Pete Rose inserts himself as a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the 9th, singles, and has Eric Davis pinch-run for him. Davis steals second and then third. New York's Ray Knight and Davis square off and come to blows — setting off one of the nastier bench-clearing brawls you'll ever see. In extra innings, due to player ejections and the length of the game, Mets manager Davey Johnson is forced to jockey numerous players at different positions — including playing catcher Gary Carter at third base and having relief pitchers Roger McDowell and Jesse Orosco platoon situationally between the mound and playing in the outfield. In the bottom of the 12th, New York's perennial gold-glove first baseman Keith Hernandez turns an absolutely scintillating (and rare) 3-5-4 double play. The Mets would go on to win 6-3.

30 years ago today on May 17, 1995, Army veteran Shawn Nelson managed to steal an M60A3 tank and go on a 6 mile rampage through San Diego, CA. Nelson was a local celebrity before the incident. He was known for mowing his lawn in the middle of the night and also dug a 20 foot pit in his backyard looking for gold. On the evening of May 17, 1995, Nelson drove his truck and parked at the local California Army National Guard armory. He then started breaking locks on the tanks before hopping inside the 60 ton tank. For the next 30 minutes, Nelson damaged bridges, fire hydrants, traffic lights, destroyed 40 cars, and left 5100 households with no electricity. Not a single person was injured. After becoming stuck, San Diego police climbed on top the tank, opened the hatch and shot and k*lled Nelson.

We have been made aware that last night on the London Underground, an identifiably Jewish man noticed a fellow passenger staring aggressively at him. The passenger then began blowing the vapour from his e-cigarette in his direction. After a few minutes, the man started recording the passenger, unsure of what may happen. The passenger stood up and sat opposite the man. In the ensuing conversation, the passenger said: “Your religion kills Muslims.” He also proceeded to refer to the man’s skullcap in saying: “You’re wearing the hat.” We believe it is possible that the passenger in question may be a minor, so we have blurred his face. He is described as a Middle Eastern male with a black ponytail between the ages of sixteen to twenty years old. British Transport Police is investigating and we are continuing to support the victim. The incident occurred between Camden Town and Chalk Farm on a Northern Line train to Edgware at approximately 19:45 in carriage number 52585. Amongst the hundreds of professors to walk the cloisters of Cambridge, Jason Arday stood out. So why has he just resigned? The young Black sociologist rose to the top of the academic tree in Cambridge and he was much sought after in the years following the Black Lives Matter movement. But then reports emerged about alleged plagiarism. A campaign driven by a handful of academics took a closer look at his work, igniting no shortage of racist abuse online and on Wednesday Professor Arday resigned from his post after Cambridge University announced a new investigation. Following his resignation, supporters of the youngest Black professor in Cambridge's history claim he's been singled out unfairly. Scholars who've analysed his work say his alleged plagiarism is an extreme example. But in a higher education sector struggling with funding pressures, some worry Arday’s may not be an isolated case. So how did race play a role in his rise and his fall?
