That Peter, with James and John restored the Melchizedek Priesthood and ordained Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery apostles. Of Paul Joseph the Prophet said, “He is about five feet high; very dark hair; dark complexion; dark skin; large Roman nose; sharp face; small black eyes, penetrating as eternity; round shoulders; a whining voice, except when elevated, and then it almost resembles the roaring of a lion. He was a good orator.”

Great post. Paul’s letter to Timothy is easily one of my favorite passages. I look forward to this day each year. Like Augustine, if Paul can be a saint, we all have a chance.

Jesus called Peter an apostle and disciple, not a pope. The Catholic Church claims Peter as the first pope, but he was martyred in the 1st century (c. 64-68 AD), long before the Church’s institutional rise after Constantine’s Edict of Milan in 313 AD. The papacy seems like a Roman power grab, not a reflection of true Christianity. The Church adopted pagan rituals and amassed wealth by selling spiritual authority, straying from the original faith.

Wonderful post. (A bit more: Paul, a Roman citizen would never be considered for crucifiction. Also Paul was an aristocrat of sorts, Peter a simple fisherman. The two very different in temperament were probably a bit suspicious of one another early on, illustrating how God for His purposes can sow unity through His Church. We all possess different gifts in His one body.

They did not preach the same gospel is something to know for sure! If you are following the wrong gospel, it will have eternal consequences. 2 Peter 3:16
