A cool fact: “Blue Monk” was recorded in Rudy Van Gelder’s parents’ living room in Hackensack, New Jersey on September 22, 1954 before Van Gelder built the famous Englewood Cliffs studio. Monk played with Percy Heath on bass and Art Blakey on drums
