This happened on the grounds of the Citywest Hotel, which currently operates as an IPAS centre (a government-run facility that provides temporary accommodation and support services for asylum seekers while their applications are processed). Some of the protesters are on horseback (as are the police). At least one riot van has been set on fire. (via Anthony.exe on IG)

Takeaways: 1) About 10 per cent of holders of the Malawian diplomatic passport overstay in the US, one of the highest rates as per their statistics (from other nations, it's usually 1 per cent or less); 2) Some holders of the diplomatic passport stay behind and apply for asylum; 3) Among the 43 applicants for the visa two weeks ago, there was one applicant who took along two other Malawian "officials" last year, both of whom remained behind in the USA and are now seeking asylum.
