Knew for the longest time that bata wasn’t an Indian brand. But didn’t know about their localization efforts to make it feel so. That was quite eye opening.

Very old news, gets revealed every six months & readers go gaga...like Oh wow, I dint know about this wikipedia knowledge yet. Also the township thing has nothing to do with its domestic brand perception. Most don't know about its too small colonies, still think of it as local.

In a way it's an Indian company. 1. Raw material and labour is indian 2. Sold fully with some exports 3. Publicly listed with Indian shareholders 4. Pays the least royalty to its parents company (1%).
