What if the setup required to get you moving through space that fast is not usable for short distances or not practical for use with weapons? If you’re “moving” faster than light I don’t think that qualifies as “speed” anymore, it’s something else more like bending space-time

Another thought to it about FTL travel. Maybe we are a bit full of ourselves. Maybe there are phenomena in the universe of which we have no concept. Maybe there are forms of information transfer that we humans have no sensors to detect. Our eyes are just EM sensors.

Once you get to that level of consciousness, the goal is to find the source (God or whatever you want to call it). So these beings are cooperative and altruistic. The idea of warfare/complete control is archaic and elementary.

Strange. Does he assume that faster-than-light travel would be available to everyone, like some magic spell? If it involved anything as technically complex and resource-dependent as building a nuclear weapon (likely!), the problem he is conjuring up would vanish into thin air.
