9/14/23 Atlanta experienced major rainfall & significant flooding. An APD Officer & AFRD Captain saved a man from a car that was partially submerged in standing water. We’re proud of the actions of AFRD Captain Terrance Simon & APD Officer Rayando Bryan. Training is critical.

So what I’m hearing is as long as someone has a baton or a stick they can save someone from this situation, and we should be training everyone how to do that We could even hire regular residents & train them as flood crisis responders They dont need to be armed or anything!

Deadly shootout in Northern California after officers apparently failed to properly search a suspect before placing him in the front seat of his cruiser. Mt. Shasta Police Department and Weed Police Department released body cam footage showing the incident that happened on March 21, 2026, during a traffic stop on Interstate 5 near the north Weed off-ramp. An officer pulled over a car traveling northbound at the north Weed off-ramp for multiple violations, including excessive window tint and an unsafe lane change. The officer called for help with a K-9 drug sniff, and a Mt. Shasta police officer responded to assist. During the search, the Weed officer found a large amount of suspected methamphetamine hidden in a stereo speaker box. As the officer approached the man, who was sitting in front of the patrol car, the man pulled out a gun from his waist and pointed it at the officer. The officer then shot the man. Medical help was provided at the scene, and the man was taken to Dignity Mt. Shasta for treatment, where he later died from his injuries. One officer suffered minor injuries from a fall during the incident
