The saying “I wish I knew then what I know now” is 1000% accurate. Longevity automatically promotes more meetings, human interactions, and experiences. That automatically creates more frame of reference. The more frame of reference you have, the more experienced you are to make difficult decisions. I was on the phone last night with one of my kids about a personal matter she was having. I was explaining that I was thinking about her situation. The benefit that I have, that she and the person she is having the problem with doesn’t have, is I’ve seen this movie before. I’ve read the script. I’ve packaged the movie. I’ve seen the movie. I’ve just been around too long. Therefore, I know what silo her situation fits into. I said to her: “You cannot see what I can see. You have to understand I have just seen it before. I know exactly what is going on.” — This made me think of this great line I once read in a biography of Frank Lloyd Wright: “There are only two or three human stories, and they go on repeating themselves as fiercely as if they had never happened before.”

I’ll end with this, If this is the last time I get to ever see Kanye live for the next 10 years.. possibly longer. This felt like a solid goodbye to a part of me that grew up with Kanye at every step of the way, every important stepping stone moment of my life, I always had Kanyes music to help me through it. Some heartbreaking, dark and beautiful times. I never cried at a concert before in my life but I did last night because I was able to recognize that in the moment. It’ll never feel the same the older I get and I’ll never be this young again. ye

I also promise this: I will keep Austin’s name alive for as long as I breathe. We will continue telling Austin’s story so that he is never forgotten. 📖 A book is also in the works! We often hear about the negatives of drinking alcohol, but longevity physician Dr. Peter Attia says he still drinks in moderation, when social benefits outweigh the negatives. “Try to never have more than two drinks in a day. And try to never drink more than three hours before bedtime because it will negatively impact your sleep,” says Attia. “If you can limit yourself to no more than six or seven drinks a week,” he adds, “I can't tell you that it will have no negative effect on your health, but I think the effect is so small that it probably comes out in the wash.”

He was very consistent in like ‘bro I know I’m gonna make it no matter how bad it is right now.’ He just stuck to his work. He would watch film of like Steph or Kyrie and the next day implementing it in our workouts… For me I was frustrated with the game. I used to get so mad… But he never wavered. That’s why now to this day people see the calm and the aura that they talk about. He’s been that way his entire upbringing of basketball. I understand being a picky eater, that’s fine, many of us have had phases like this where we just eat the same thing over and over. Some do it because they don’t have time to eat and they get what’s convenient. But things taking it to the next level, eating over processed junk to the point she hasn’t used the bathroom in weeks is way too extreme. I never heard of having to go into surgery to have it removed because it was this bad. I think even is someone is picky, they always like more than just one thing, maybe switch it up, add something with a little more substance to help keep things going.

On July 24th I missed the birth of my son. I was in West Virginia with the president. Deirdre and I were fighting. There was no way back to New York. Then I get fired, my marriage is on the brink, I’ve missed the birth of my son, and the late night comedians are coming for me every night. I went to a PR crisis manager. He told me to buy a villa in Italy and come back in 2022. You’re never recovering from this. F*ck that, I went on Colbert, I went on Bill Maher, I faced Saturday Night Live, and I faced the music. Nine years later my son turns nine on July 24th. My marriage is intact, stronger than ever, honestly, because we refused to make it disposable. The firing was the hardest thing that ever happened to me. It also made me more psychologically minded, more empathetic, more human. And you probably wouldn’t know who I am if it hadn’t happened. If you’re going through something hard right now, stay in it. Don’t walk away. The thing that breaks you is often the thing that builds you.

I’m gonna have to confess that I’ve never paid much attention to Earth Day before, but when I saw it today I had the thought, “you know, I am very thankful for this earth that God made, even with all the brokenness that’s here on it. I know we’re meant to be “good caretakers and stewards of it” while we’re here. So, it’s good to have a day to remember that...and also to remember the incredible truth that Psalm 24:1 reminds us of: “The Earth is the Lord’s and everything in it. The world and all it’s people belong to Him!” So yeah, Happy Earth Day!
