LIU’s head coach Dan Pirillo has held his team in right field for close to 30 minutes after their elimination from the NCAA Tournament. This is a team that won the NEC regular season and tournament titles, made the big dance for just the 5th time in program history, and fought their asses off all season. You know Pirillo is congratulating them on an unbelievable season. It may not have ended how they wanted, but you have to love these mid majors in college baseball. You hate to see a team like this go home. Congrats on a hell of a year LIU Baseball

No one gets to The Show alone. Anytime a big leaguer walks onto a field, an unseen army of former coaches & teammates walk with him... not simply as passive observers, but as active participants. And so it was last night, when one of Daniel's best friends, Alex Romo, got to watch his former high school teammate play baseball on a Major League field in Atlanta, GA. How can you not be romantic about baseball? Man! I love this game!

Dalton Rushing spent time with young baseball players and students this morning reading, handing out books and singing Just last week, he was a part of the biggest story in baseball after miscommunications with Shohei Ohtani during a game & shared what he hopes young players learn from him: “You’re a human being. There’s going to be times where things are turned against you and there’s nothing you can do about it. At the end of the day, showing up, doing something like this, spending time with kids kind of shows the true person you are.”

You go to college camps- it’s where you will be seen. You go to showcases to document your numbers. This is one of the points raised by Algeria following their defeat to Nigeria yesterday. According to the Algerian camp, referee Issa Sy showed a lack of respect and sportsmanship toward their players. They claim that after the final whistle, the manner in which he shook hands with Algerian players was noticeably different from how he greeted the Nigerian players. This Dividion 3 baseball player was given a tounge lashing by his coach for not hustling out of the batter’s box and admiring his homerun. The coach yells at him to hustle because he doesn’t know if it’s going to be a home run and he needs to hustle. He tells him if he ever does that again, it will be his last at bat there. Some are saying the coach is being ridiculous, let the player have fun. Others are saying the coach was right on the money and that’s what is wrong with players today- too much showboating. Baseball is so funny. Since last winter, the debate has been about who the Yankees should give more playing time to between Anthony Volpe and Jose Caballero. Then it's June, and you have Cabby standing on first after getting hit by a pitch. Volpe barrels a triple that flies off his bat at 104.5 MPH. These debates are fun, and we should never stop having them, but baseball has always been the great equalizer. Guys usually find a way to play. Also, good for Volpe here. We've all been hard on him — rightfully so — so it's nice to see him playing well lately.

Who gets a plus and who gets a minus? I've sent this to 3 different NFL DCs—they all gave different answers!! Curious to see how others view it. I'll post my breakdown later.
