China unveiled on Wednesday the names of its moon-landing spacesuit and the crewed lunar rover. According to a news release from the China Manned Space Agency, the new spacesuit, which will be worn by astronauts as they walk on the lunar surface, is named 望月 (Wangyu), or Stargazing, while the manned rover's name is 探索 (Tansuo), or Exploration. The names were reviewed and chosen by a group of experts from more than 9,000 proposals, which were solicited from members of the public. The agency explained that the word "Wangyu" symbolizes a new chapter in China's space endeavor that features manned missions to the moon and deep-space expeditions and also demonstrates the country's determination to uphold the peaceful use of outer space and pursue a shared future of mankind. Currently, prototypes of the spacesuit and rover are being designed and the research work has been progressing smoothly. China has announced its plan of conducting its first manned mission to the moon around 2030. China’s manned spacecraft was named Mengzhou in 2024, meaning dream vessel, which reflects the fact that the manned lunar exploration carries the Chinese people's space dream and opens a new journey of space adventure. The country’s lunar lander was named Lanyue in 2024, meaning embracing the moon, a term that appeared in a poem written by the late Chairman Mao Zedong. That is literally the first real step toward personal robotics and autonomous home manipulation. Toys are officially entering the robot era. Our #GhostRiders completed another lunar orbit maneuver with a 3 minute, 18 second burn early this morning. This maneuver moved the lander from a high elliptical orbit to a much lower elliptical orbit around the Moon. Shortly after the burn, Blue Ghost captured incredible footage of the Moon's far side, about 120 km above the surface. In this orbit, the team will experience planned rolling comms blackouts as Blue Ghost goes around the far side of the Moon. When on the near side, the team will continue to downlink data and finalize the plan for our next maneuver that will get Blue Ghost even closer to the lunar surface and keep us right on track for landing on March 2. #BGM1

Automatic Helicopter Landings on Naval Ships Landing a helicopter on a moving naval ship is one of the most demanding tasks in aviation. The flight deck continuously changes its position, attitude, and velocity with the sea, requiring precise relative positioning throughout the approach. The landing sequence uses two navigation systems. During the approach, Differential GPS (DGPS) guides the helicopter along a calculated flight path. Near the flight deck, navigation switches to a laser guidance system, providing centimeter-level relative positioning for the final hover and touchdown. During the automatic hover, the flight control system continuously compensates for ship motion, wind, and turbulence to maintain a stable landing position. This significantly reduces pilot workload and can safely complete the landing even if the pilot becomes incapacitated. The system entered operational service on the JMSDF SH-60K Seahawk, becoming the world's first operational system capable of fully automatic landings of a manned helicopter on a moving naval ship. It was developed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
