A BC Conservative candidate who made derogatory comments about Indigenous Peoples on election night more than a week ago is now facing calls to be removed from the party. Here's what was said, along with the reaction that followed.

Much of what the Conservative leader said was a retreading over familiar ground. The Conservative party was a ‘distressed asset’ when she inherited the leadership, she said, but is now getting a second hearing. Badenoch said, of the economy, that the country must cut spending before it cuts taxes, and that it is time that the government gets out of the way of business. On Wednesday, Chris Hipkins said the party would release more policy after the election, before quickly walking back his apparent Freudian slip and claiming it would be after the budget. On Friday, Willie Jackson was asked the same question. He began to say “just after the election,” then caught himself and changed it to “two to three months before the election.” Labour clearly has serious problems with its policy platform. More concerning, however, is the strong impression that it is keeping controversial policies up its sleeve, ready to release them only if it wins the election.
