Tesla Self-Driving likely saved a man's life on my commute this morning. 🥹 Pouring rain. Both of us signaled to merge into the same empty lane at nearly the same time. FSD reacted immediately. I didn't even see him until FSD was already handling it. A camera-based neural net saw a motorcyclist in a rainstorm that a human didn’t and people are still debating whether this technology works. This was one of those wow moments while using Tesla Self-Driving. We were driving home in the pouring rain when the car started to slow down at a green light. At first I questioned its decision but then I saw the person slowly crossing in a wheel chair. I promise you I was paying full attention to the road and I did not see the person until after the car began to slow down. Visibility was awful. Amazing work Tesla AI

FSD literally saved my life and my wife’s tonight. Watch carefully - a car suddenly races in and merges into our lane with almost zero gap at highway speed. On the footage it’s hard to tell just how close it was, but in that exact moment me and my wife both thought “there’s no way a human could react fast enough.” FSD did. In milliseconds it calculated the distance to our front bumper and instantly slowed down perfectly, leaving safe room. Slow-mo shows exactly how razor-close it was. A Tesla on Full Self-Driving blows through a stop sign at 35mph and nearly collides with two cars. The kicker is that this was during a livestream debate-demo-drive between FSD fan Ross Gerber and FSD skeptic Dan O'Dowd. This should go without saying, but for an automated system to be at the safety level of a human, this cannot happen. The fact that this occurred yesterday during THIS drive (along with other safety-critical disengagements) should serve as statistical evidence of how frequent this is occurring. IMO, this is the biggest nail in the Tesla FSD coffin.

This clip really showcases the difference between a human driver and Tesla FSD. FSD sees the (stupid) person crossing the road at night and slows down for them, meanwhile a human driver from the other direction nearly runs down the pedestrian. Should the person not be crossing there? Absolutely! But that’s beside the point - the reality is pedestrians do unpredictable things, and FSD is always watching for that to happen. I never thought I’d be posting one of these Tesla clips; however, Tesla Self Driving, saved me and my daughter’s life tonight. We are in Michigan right now for her horseback riding competition, it is so foggy tonight, and driving back to our hotel a car that could not see in the fog was driving in our lane heading towards us. I was paying attention, and the oncoming car did not look like it was in our lane; however, the Tesla could see better than I could, and knew it was in our lane, and it took quick action to move us out of harm’s way. Unbelievable. This is life-saving technology happening now!!! It’s so hard to describe.
