Police here in Atlanta have become very aggressive towards any dog. This was a service dog- definitely not aggressive. What a tragedy. This should not go unpunished

Service dogs are protected by federal law. I would push this to every legal course available to prevent senseless killings of pets. Make people think twice before they pull a weapon.

"A service dog"would have to have been well trained to pass the training & pass behaviour tests before being allowed to be a service dog highly unlikely the dog would be aggressive. This poor man has lost his loved companion & the support his dog gave him.

The police are out of control if they are not killing their own dogs by leaving them in the hot car they are killing other people’s pets. What about pepper spray or a taser why does it always have to be lethal. We need to see the body cam and he needs to be prosecuted.

I doubt she was aggressive. I'd bet she was alert and perhaps gave a warning like dogs do. Officers have been attacked by dogs (& dogs have killed people), however, you can usually tell the difference. The officer reacted when he should have hesitated, obviously. This is heartbreaking.

There are over 53 million dog owning families in the US. Yet, police departments across the nation rarely receive any training as to how handle and identify aggressive vs reactive dogs.
