Technology + teamwork = quick results Just a few weeks ago, officers arrested a burglary suspect in less than an hour thanks to a vigilant neighbor, the Real Time Information Center (RTIC) and APD's Drones as First Responders program. The incident began when a neighbor reported seeing a man enter a home's backyard and leave with a bicycle. Using live camera technology, RTIC quickly located a suspect matching the description riding a bicycle that matched the one reported stolen. Drone technology and real-time updates allowed officers to continuously track the suspect's movements, directing officers to his location within minutes. When officers contacted the suspect, he abandoned the bicycle and tried to run. But we were faster. Officers quickly took him into custody, recovered the stolen bike and other property taken from the residence, and arrested him on probable cause of theft, trespassing and obstructing. If you had a drone and saw a tornado, would you try to fly it into the tornado? In 2022 near Crowell, TX I tried to do that, and MISSED! LOL! The winds were so strong it tossed the little drone around, but then swept it away along with the tornado. I had to run a half mile into a field of mesquite trees to track the drone down to recover this legendary footage!

EDINA: Shortly before 9 a.m., Troopers were dispatched for a pedestrian wearing a cape or a blanket, walking on southbound Hwy. 100 near Benton Ave. - A Trooper caught up with the man, then radioed that he was "fighting with one" and backup was dispatched. MnDOT camera video appeared to show the man may have tried to run into traffic before the Trooper pushed him over the guardrail to hold him down.
