With all this progress in agriculture, why are we expected to eat bugs? lol...

Quite amazing, but also quite bad. These machines are insanely expensive. A normal farmer can hardly effort one and thus has to focus heavily on a single crop. This means massive monoculture and a high dependency of the farmer that this one crop achieves a high yield.

If it makes more effective, why are food so expensive? Why there’s so many people starving?

That's definetely some impressive engineering! The downside of this is that many of these machines kill millions of insects every year. So while I admire the wits of the engineers and understand the farmers for wanting to make their lives easier, it creates a lot of problems too.
