From 28th July the brutal crackdown against participants of the #BalochNationalGathering continues. According to the latest reports, more than ten participants were seriously injured after forces attacked peaceful demonstrators in Gwadar. The authorities forcefully seized dead bodies that protesters had planned to offer funeral prayers for, further intensifying the grief of the victims’ families. Once again at midnight, the Sindh police violently attacked a peaceful protest organized in solidarity with the Baloch Yakjehti Committee’s Baloch Raaji Muchi and in opposition to the brutal crackdown on the movement. Many of the peaceful protesters including women's were arrested and detained by the police. When the protesters resisted, the police were compelled to release some of them, though more than ten protesters remain detained. The state is showing fake negotiation on one side, while harassing and arresting peaceful protesters on the other. Today, the 11-day sit-in protest by the families of forcibly disappeared Baloch individuals was attacked by the forces when they were marching towards the Red Zone. Elderly men, women, and children were subjected to brutal violence, including live firing. Dozens of protesters were taken into custody and shifted to unknown locations. For decades, the state institutions' response to peaceful demonstrations has been violence and intimidation. The forced disappearances and genocide of the Baloch people continue, and when the families and civil society protest, they are treated with cruelty, beaten, dragged, and imprisoned.
