Kudos to design guy who hide this from patients to see otherise very few would opt for it.

I didn’t realize they physically spun. I thought they just generated a rotating magnetic field using stationary electromagnets, like the stator side of an electric motor. 🤔

the urge to just..

Never seen a CT scanner with housing removed, fascinating to see the tech needed to look into our quantum brains

Heh. Can you imagine how nervous patients would be? This must be one of the most net-anxiety removing pieces of plastic in the hospital

I was getting a CT scan, and I asked the nurse, "did anyone ever go into another dimension in this?" She answered "just once" 😆

How they get it started

Can you imagine? thousands of electric and electronic complexe parts assembled and connected to form a (4-5 thousands pounds) one spinning disc rotating at nearly 3000 rpm and should at the same time emit a thin X-ray beam that crosses patient body millimeter by millimeter to generate a picture of what’s happening under your skin. As @elonmusk says:

OK, put the cover back on. I've had a few done and am now surprised I haven't transported somewhere.
