A cyclist encounters a pedestrian

I like how when a pedestrian does something stupid it's the cyclist's fault and also when a car driver does something stupid it's also the cyclist's fault

-Pedestrian doesn't look properly. -Cyclist is a massive arse, naturally. -VAN DRIVER is the worst of the lot! Why has no one mentioned the awful parking by a burgertwat?

Same as driving a car, you use the appropriate speed for the conditions; it's not a race track as this cyclist seems to think.

Do cyclists and car drivers spend equal amounts of time near pedestrians per mile?

Wasn’t the cyclist going too fast? It’s like a car going at 80 in a 30kmh street. Bike paths are not formula one circuits.

Love how the pedal brain had over 3 sec to react and a whole free lane to make even most crazy manoeuvring on right hand side, but he obviously due to lack of brain and mobility skills IT decides to collide with a pedestrian...

This is not just some guy trying to get around in the city, this is a "cyclist" with the lycra, the attitude, and the inability to brake for anything turning the city's roads into his own little racecourse. As a rule "cyclist" are always in the wrong.

(In the style of David Attenborough) The London cyclist is now very common. They wander aimlessly in herds but when hunting, these aerodynamic predators suddenly accelerate from hidden areas & attack their prey, usually pouncing with video capture equipment, blaming the victim.

The cyclist has either the worst reflexes on the planet or he was actively trying to put himself in this situation for social media. His phone seems to point at the second option.

Pedestrian & cyclist unsighted by the illegally parked van. Both could have been more cautious. Although the cyclist could have done a little more to make sure he could be seen and see if there was anyone coming from behind the van, a child for instance, by moving over to the right and slowing down. Hard to prove his speed, it says 20....

I thought that pedestrians had hierarchy over bicycles?! Surely the cyclist should stop here as the pedestrian was already crossing?! They love to reference the Highway Code amendments to drivers so pedalphiles need to follow their own advice!!!

To me it looks like they are going to pass behind the pedestrian until the last moment when they turn in the direction they are walking.

To be fair pedestrians are used to nearly all vehicles being extremely noisy, so a quiet road was almost always safe to cross without looking. But with cities switching from cars to bikes and a wide variety of light electric vehicles, they'll have to watch before crossing.

1) the cyclist should adapt his speed, probably going a bit fast for an urban environment, and I say that as a cyclist myself. 2) That said, pedestrians should stop relying on their ears only before crossing. I had a couple near misses because some people cross and don't look.

It’s about half a century since I hit a pedestrian. A few close misses in the electro-zombie era. A particular danger is the individual who crosses one’s line of travel, realises they’re in greater danger from motors, so walks backwards into one’s track.

The cyclist was aiming for the pedestrian; he had enough time to avoid it, but he decided to aim and hit the pedestrian. The phone, showing the camera view, is a distraction and should be treated the same as a driver and be fined with points on their license if he has one

If Only there was a way of steering and stopping these bikes ?

Important questions here need answers. 1. Is the bike unharmed? 2. Is the donut okay? 😁

I would simply have gone behind the pedestrian.
