Chinese are smart. I do not see China as an enemy but as a trade rival. They were not deeply vested in the ideological politics of the Iranian Theocracy, nor the Narco-State of Venezuela. They are an industrial power and need petroleum. I expect the US will not interfere with China's needs from either source.

For China the peace dividend of Middle Eastern stability the US is creating will have long lasting benefits of economic growth. Diplomacy is therefore the best option. Taking Taiwan is the other.
