This is an extremely dangerous proposition as it would threaten protection of traditional land rights of the Gorkhas, Adivasis, Rajbangshis, Rabha, Koche, Meche, Toto, Bengali and other communities who are the indigenous people of our Darjeeling hills, Terai and Dooars. As the WB Govt is planning to hand over tea garden land to their donor friends in the name of "Tea Tourism", to open up the tea garden lands for Commercial Real-estate Development and other purposes, this 30% land diversion is permitted, it will mean the end of the tea industry, as real-estates will take over, and tea garden workers and later the cinchona garden workers would be deprived of rights to their ancestral lands. To protest against the WB Govt's dictatorship and prevent the deprivation of Tea Workers, I addressed a Rally at Kalchini organised by the BJP West Bengal Alipurduar Organizational District.

But we are not moving urgently enough to use this money on what works and demand that every dollar we spend moves as many people off the streets and into safety as possible. I’ve posted the whole segment where she does her best to toe the party line – but she just keeps digging deeper. Using “expert advice” and “professional recommendations” for the settings is a cop-out – if there’s a good reason why a chippie or sparkie should be deprioritised to the same category as an actor or dancer during a housing crisis, she should be able to explain it. And then she tops it off with “it hasn’t changed since the previous government” – as if the LNP is in good public standing, the ALP hasn’t been in power for over 4 years and the housing crisis hasn’t severely worsened since then. As for the question of whether trade unions are influencing our migration program? You’d have to be very naive to think they aren’t.$
